Paul Winchester
Principal Consultant - Petroleum EngineeringPaul Winchester is
a Chartered Engineer with extensive worldwide experience in the petroleum
industry spanning more than 30 years. For much of this time, he specialised
in Production Engineering in both planning and operating roles.
He graduated from Nottingham University (UK) with a BSc (Hons) in Mining
Engineering in 1963 and joined Shell as a petroleum engineer. He was
subsequently assigned to various Shell companies overseas including Algeria,
Belize, U.K., Nigeria, Qatar, Brunei, and Norway. As head of the Production
Engineering Department in Norway, he was part of the conceptual study team
for the development of the massive Troll field deep water oil and gas
projects.
After leaving Shell in 1984, he joined Delhi Petroleum in
Australia for two years as Field Superintendent responsible for the
operation of their oil fields in Queensland and South Australia.
More recently, he spent three years in Government service, first as State
Petroleum Engineer in Tasmania, then as Chief Petroleum Engineer with the
Bureau of Mineral Resources in Canberra.
Through his consulting company, Winoil Pty. Ltd., Paul has worked with
the oil industry, and is an accredited consultant to the World Bank.
He has published and presented many papers on petroleum matters, and has
represented Australia on the OECD Collaborative Committee on Enhanced Oil
Recovery, and Tasmania on the AMEC Standing Committee on Offshore
Legislation, and supervised the NERDDC funded study "Potential for Enhanced
Oil Recovery Applications in Australia."
Since joining RobSearch Australia, Paul has worked on a range of projects
in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Indonesia, in addition to carrying out
contract work in Nigeria, Papua New Guinea and Myanmar.
