John
M. Blumer, Chairman & Managing Director
John Blumer has over forty years of experience in petroleum
geology, related geosciences and exploration management, in Australia, New
Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Southeast Asia and North America.
Commencing his career as a well-site geologist in 1963, John spent the
next twelve years working for International and Australian oil companies in
Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
In 1975, John set up J.M.Blumer & Associates Pty Ltd as an independent
petroleum consultancy. Over the following twelve years, he built the company
up to become one of the largest such firms in Australia, specialising in
contract management of exploration & drilling programmes, corporate advisory
services, valuation of exploration and producing tenements and statutory
reporting.
Highlights of his diverse consulting assignments during this period
include:
 | assisting in the establishment and initial technical and operations
management of several listed exploration companies, including Pan Pacific
Petroleum, the New Zealand Oil & Gas group and Kundu Petroleum, |
| preparation of a large number of statutory reports, prospectus reports
and acreage valuations for new company floats and equity placements, |
| independent adviser to the agent bank for an international lenders'
syndicate providing non-recourse credit facilities for a major Cooper
Basin Gas/Liquids Project participant, |
| numerous valuations of petroleum exploration and production assets,
and |
| development of a major petroleum database for Australasia and
Southeast Asia and the annual preparation of a computer-generated map of
petroleum tenements. |
After a two year period acting as an Executive Director of a public
listed company, John resumed full-time consulting, concentrating again on
corporate advisory and valuation work. In 1990, John acquired an equity
interest in RobSearch Australia of which he is now Chairman and Managing
Director.
John also has specific responsibility for all the petroleum consulting
activities of RobSearch Australia.
John is a member of the Mineral Valuation Committee of the AusIMM and is
past-President of the Earth Resources Foundation of the University of
Sydney.
